Part of my job at chocolate creative, involves styling and art directing the photoshoot of the products I design. We normally take the photos at my house, as it is where the business was based up until last year, and it is where I have some interesting props and pieces of furniture. I enjoy this part of my work very much as it can be challenging and creative, but as usual, its subject to budget, space and time, although one day I hope to have a bigger space where to take the photos, but for the time being I make the most of it, I guess that is a skill too…

These photos were taken by Piero Pierini, and are of the latest range of bespoke handles and knobs I stock on my shop online. When designing I always think of myself as the potential customer, (maybe not a good idea), but if I don't see the practical use of a product or I like it visually I won't be able to produce it. Having creative freedom was the main reason I started chocolate creative, I tend to have a lot of ideas that never see the light, for production cost reasons or luck of time, but this process keeps me happy and motivated to carry on.

The bespoke handles, knobs and hooks can be used in many ways, to hold curtains, to finish custom made wardrobes, to storage scarfs, hats, coats, etc…in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom. I am hoping to get some photos of my customers to show in here very soon, I find very interesting to see how people use the products.

FELIZ NAVIDAD – MERRY CHRISTMAS

Time for me to slow down…go home to spend Christmas with my dear mother, enjoy a warmer and more pleasant weather than here in London and eat lots!! Time to relax, sleep, walk on the beach, read, be with my friends back home, etc…As usual I will miss Missi (the cat) terribly, it is so bad that sometimes it hurts, but I know he will be in good company. 

I am not closing chocolate creative, but I will be taken things in a more relaxed way. I will be posting from Gran Canaria, my home town, where I hope to be until mid January. I hope you all have a well deserved break with your loved ones, regardless how we spend this time of the year, what I think it matters is to be with the loved ones (if possible), and enjoy the slow days, by simply not doing much, well at least that is what I plan to do for the next week or so!! 

I leave you with some decorations I put together at home, just a few silly things together, I recycle old decorations and add new things. This year I have kept it very simple, I just gathered together some nice ceramics, old and new, some dry leaves and branches, paper decor, and my one handmade decorations.

Bloesem blog has got this great section called "Let's get personal" where they show the houses of different artists, what inspires them and show a bit of their work as well. I have spent quite a bit of time going through all the posts, admiring the photos, styling, etc... what is it about people's houses that I like so much? I guess that I get to see how all this interesting artists/designers get to live, decorate their interiors and how that sometimes can be reflected in their own work. One of my favorite is the house and work of designer Lenneke Wispelwey. Her ceramics line called 'The sweet surprise', in pastel colors, simple shapes, peculiar textures and full of humor is a must!!

Porque sera que me gusta tanto cuando tengo la oportunidad de echar un vistazo a las casas de diferentes artistas/disenadores?? Imagino porque suelen ser espacios muy creativos e inpiradores. El blog Bloesem tiene una seccion 'Lets get personal' que es una delicia, te puedes pasar un buen rato, observando cada una de las fotos, los objetos, curiosidades, muebles, colores, etc...Una de mis favoritas, es la casa y trabajo de la disenadora Lenneke Wispelwey, sus ceramicas en colores pastel son muy divertidas!!

Poms poms paradise...

I can't wait for my birthday party so I can decorate my house with some of this pom poms, I would like to fill the living room, hall, and staircase with them. At this point fancy this gorgeous tones of grey, black and caramel, but who knows I may change my mind into something a bit more colorful...Kirsten's shop is full of beautiful designs and color to choose from...I even fancy to leave them up once the party is over...
