Dreaming with a Devol Kitchen

Monday, 6 June 2016

I wanted one of these kitchens from the moment I first came across Devol in some Interior magazines years ago (I am addicted to Interior/design magazines, I have a mini library at home of publications from all the countries I have visited).
My home is very important to me, I tend to spend my little spare money in the house rather than in fashion or eating out, etc…I renovated the bathroom a few years back, but the current kitchen is the original one from when the house was built. It is functional, and in good condition, but not to my taste or as practical as a contemporary kitchen should be.  So I keep dreaming that one day, I would be able to have my ideal kitchen.
I like the handmade aspect of their designs and sustainable production, the textured mix of woods, the neutral use of colour, and beautiful details. I would have a serious problem trying to choose which kitchen to go for, as I am equally in love with the moody dark version, or the rather calm and simple white option, but what about the smoky cabinets on white walls and natural wood?

Sebastian Cox kitchen
Devol is totally out of my budget, but that doesn’t stop me from appreciating the beauty and quality of their designs. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is exquisite. I had the opportunity of seeing their latest collaboration with Sebastian Cox at Clerkenwell Design Week. The simplicity of the cabinets, and combination of natural wood with the choice of dark stained one is quite a success, the rusty country accessories, and over all the way they styled the space won me over.
People say that if you focus on your dreams/goals, visualise them, and truly believe that they can happen, that most sure they will become a reality. Margarita will stay focused and will keep dreaming with her new kitchen, maybe it will happen in the next home?

MY FRIEND'S HOUSES – KATE CLARKE LONDON

Monday, 21 July 2014

Hello Monday and everybody!! It is still very warm and sunny in London, so not complaining, although a trip to the beach wouldn't hurt with these temperatures...Since I am not having holidays this Summer, I am trying to take work easy and spend some days not doing much, but as much as I like the idea, I don't seem to manage to slow down, but to the contrary, keep working and working...When you run your own business, there are always things to do, plan for, etc...but there is time for meeting with friends, naps, going to the park, long walks, ballet, etc...too.

We recently had an afternoon tea at My dear friend Kate's cute flat, that she shares with boyfriend illustrator Nikalas. Apart from stuffing my face with different cakes, biscuits, and wash it all with plenty of tea, I took some photos of their colourful and cosy flat.

They both love children's books, graphics, colours, design, patterns, cute ceramics, etc...They got a great eye for mixing colours, with patterns and vintage pieces with more modern ones.
You can normally tell by someone's work how their home may be decorated, and that is the case with Kate's home-ware line, (pictured below). her work is full of colour, and gorgeous shapes, very Scandinavian and fresh, just like her home!

CHOCOLATE CREATIVE AT TENT LONDON 2013

Wednesday, 18 September 2013

TENT LONDON opens its doors tomorrow, so I better go to bed and get some beauty sleep to be somehow presentable and don't look this tired...stand is ready, clothes prepared for the next 4 days, fridge is stoked with healthy food and house is clean.

I won't bother you with the details of how difficult and challenging the whole experience has been so far. I am happy that I have managed to set up the stand in time despite the difficulties and it is ready and looking decent. I am looking forward to meeting lots of people and enjoy the show. If you are in London and love design don't miss it, there is plenty of good design and talented designers. It is a consumers show as well as trade, open from tomorrow until Sunday, so see you at my stand T1/F09.

NOCHINTZ AND NATURAL RETREATS

Thursday, 18 July 2013

I have been wanted to talk about Nochintz interiors project for Natural retreats for quite sometimes, but was waiting to get hold of some nice images of the renovation first. Nochintz is a Manchester based creative studio focused on interior design and branding. I got to know about the firm when they approached me over a year ago about my wall hooks for some of their retail projects; and needless to say that I am thrilled to see some my products being used in such a great renovation job, this time for the Yorkshire Dales retreat.  I really like and appreciate their focus on british design and designers. Love their fresh and contemporary approach to interiors with that vintage touch that I am so fan of. I wouldn't mind a few days of total relaxing time in this part of rural England...
