Fancy some 1950's retro?

Monday, 7 May 2012

Hello all, nice weekend? We are having a long weekend, here in the UK, it is May and we all should be enjoying our gardens and walks under a mild Spring sun, isn't? well it feels like back in Winter, no sun, more rain and cold weather, and me getting desperate to finish some old pieces of furniture I have to restore before the weekend as I open the house to the public as part of the Dulwich Festival. If you are in London and fancy some tea, cakes and browse gorgeous art and homewares come along, we will be here waiting for you all.

Not everything is grey and cold, looking at these gorgeous photos, (May issue of Countryliving magazine), I feel a bit warmer and colorful already. My friends Marian and Jo, the designers behind the textile studio the colour house are being featured in this article about 1950's retro decorating. I love the mix of textiles, patterns and colours they have chosen for the shoot. Very much in the style of Marian's house itself, very uplifting and fresh.

The limited edition cushions and lampshades are from Marian, can you spot her cushion in the sofa? and the cushions and chair below are by Jo. I admire their talent for pattern and colour and their loyalty to keep producing with the best materials and keeping it British manufactured (difficult task these days), well done girls!!
