Cover me in Quilts

Sunday 16 May 2010

I went along to the V&A  last week and was inspired to see such an array of quilts. From traditional stitching, to silk screen printing, embroidery and woven patterns, the quilt exhibition is an absolute must-see.

I love Caren Garfen's beautifully detailed interpretations and stitching of  women's lifestyle magazines and household duties. Caren's textiles combine silk screen printing with meticulously detailed hand stitching.

Tracey Emin shares moments and memories with her quilt, ‘To meet my past’...

... and I love the spring- like colour scheme of Janey Forgan’s Liberty Jack.

  1. ooooh.... I love the ones you picked out. I started a Patchwork Quilt course yesterday and have been handstitching blocks all day. That hand stitching at the top of your post is unbelievable! I have a long way to go yet.... It's such an exciting thing to learn though! x
