NEW COLLECTION - CREATIVE WORK IN PROCESS

Friday 28 February 2014

Time to finish what I started years and years ago. My first ever drawings at Kew Garden, while studying Textiles were about cactus and tropical plants, but the theme seemed very close to my background and culture at the time, (I wanted to do something totally different), so I decided not to pursue these ideas and left them behind in my sketch's books. Many years later and I find myself looking back and this drawings, and getting more and more into this theme. For years now I have been taken photos and drawing more and more cactus, so I feel it is about time I put all of this into a collection. I am planing to spend the weekend at the Barbican Conservatory and visit kew Gardens, as I  still have to gather more ideas, and I really fancy a quiet weekend focusing on my creative work. Nice weekend to everybody!
(please do not use these photos, they are my drawings and work in process, much appreciated it)

CHOCOLATE CREATIVE AT THE ETSY-WEST ELM POP- UP IN LONDON

Wednesday 26 February 2014

Hello and how is everybody? I hope well and enjoying the sunshine that we are having lately!!
February has been a very busy month and it seems March would continue the trend...

I am very happy to announce that I am going to take part in the first esty pop-up shop at west elm in London. The event has been curated by Arianna and Carole from Heart Home Magazine.  I am really excited to be part of it, and see how big stores such as west elm are doing more and more collaborations with small independent designers/makers/brands.

If you are in London and happen to come along to the event, please come and say hello, I don't know in which area of the shop I would be yet, but I am sure you will find me there!! See you all soon!

MY STUDIO SPACE | WORK IN PROGRESS

Thursday 13 February 2014

I have been self-employed for many years, doing graphics and later on setting up and running chocolate creative. When you work for yourself is advisable to possess some skills that would help in your entrepreneurial journey, some of them are: determination, self discipline, focus, a lot of patience, believe in yourself, passion, and so on...but equally important, is to have a place dedicated to your daily activities, specially if you work from home, that is why I consider myself very lucky to have a decent space where to work. It is not as big as I wish it to be, but has got plenty of light, it is warm, clean and cosy. It has not always been the case. I started from a desk in my rented bedroom many many years ago, then rented a studio space that had a toilet that remind me of the one in the movie 'Trainspotting' and in the last 7 years I had worked from this house, most of the time from my own crowded room, as I needed to rent the second bedroom to manage the bills.

I am still in London because I don't have to commute every day, otherwise I would have gone long time ago to my dear Gran Canaria. I like the flexibility and commodities of working from my own home, but sometimes I miss human company!! Missi, the cat, is all I have for company these days, don't get me wrong I love him way too much...but some feedback and interaction with other people would be very welcome too haha...
I wanted to show you a bit of my space, the stock room is not a room, it is in fact the whole house, you can find cushion's paddings in the living room, plus boxes, fabrics and so on in my bedroom, corridor, etc...The business is growing and I would need a bigger space where to work from. I would love somewhere in Peckham, near my house, where I can finally put everything in ONE ROOM, get messy with inks, printing, etc...
I am working on some new ideas, but all I have done so far are drawings, think of colours and waste some very valuable time waiting for the big inspiration that would tell me how to put together all these visions, drawings, colours, etc...and make it work into products and collections. Oh well, if you soon see some new products being released, it is because I have finally got my act together and made it happen!!

I just wanted to send you lots of positive energy to all of you, in whatever you do, not job is perfect, or workplace, but we somehow make it work and are grateful for what we have. NICE SUNNY DAY!!

I got to know about The Cold Press, a printmaker's gallery/studio in Norfolk at Tent London, past September. NEW MAGNETIC DINO WALLPAPER BY SIAN ZENG

Friday 7 February 2014

I am very happy to show you these gorgeous photos from the NEW magnetic wallpaper, from designer and friend, Sian Zeng. Taken by photographer Jon Day, and styled by Charlotte Love. I think they have done a great job. I totally love Sian's hand drawings of the cactus and dinos, I have always enjoyed her story telling troughout her work, full of details, imagination and lots of talent!!
Above and below, my little friend Hugo, he and brother Nestor, modelled for the photoshoot and apparently behaved very well, I love these kids, half English/half Spanish, they got the best of both countries, haha...
I love the final product, very unique and different, perfect for children's bedrooms, as well as for more grown up interiors, I can see it in a hallway, or as a wall feature.
Sian, recently appeared on Design Sponge, where she talks about her work and give tips on how to install wallpapers, and much more, worth a read!! Below, a close up of the magnets, SO CUTE!!
