FELIZ NAVIDAD – MERRY CHRISTMAS

Sunday 22 December 2013

Time for me to slow down…go home to spend Christmas with my dear mother, enjoy a warmer and more pleasant weather than here in London and eat lots!! Time to relax, sleep, walk on the beach, read, be with my friends back home, etc…As usual I will miss Missi (the cat) terribly, it is so bad that sometimes it hurts, but I know he will be in good company.

I am not closing chocolate creative, but I will be taken things in a more relaxed way. I will be posting from Gran Canaria, my home town, where I hope to be until mid January. I hope you all have a well deserved break with your loved ones, regardless how we spend this time of the year, what I think it matters is to be with the loved ones (if possible), and enjoy the slow days, by simply not doing much, well at least that is what I plan to do for the next week or so!!

I leave you with some decorations I put together at home, just a few silly things together, I recycle old decorations and add new things. This year I have kept it very simple, I just gathered together some nice ceramics, old and new, some dry leaves and branches, paper decor, and my one handmade decorations.

WISHING YOU ALL A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS
FELIZ NAVIDAD PARA TODOS/AS

KITCHEN RENOVATION USING CHOCOLATE CREATIVE WOODEN KNOBS

Monday 16 December 2013

Hello all and Monday! How was your weekend? Mine has been busy, sending out the last Xmas orders, organising things, admin work, etc... Its being grey, wet and miserable...Just a week left to go home to spend Christmas with my mother back in warm Gran Canaria, and I am counting the days...

Yesterday I came across a post in 'Sweeten', a site dedicated to renovation projects, that made me very happy!! They show the renovation of this gorgeous house in Gowanus, and guess what?? the interior designer and the owners have chosen chocolate creative wooden knobs to create a distinctive look for their new kitchen. I love the dark grey cabinets against the white tiles, wall and light wood, with the choice of pink and the blue lake knobs. Check the full renovation over at Sweeten, together with many other great projects.

TALENTO CANARIO

Thursday 12 December 2013

Last month I had the opportunity to take part in and event called 'Fashion&Friends', back in Gran Canaria, where I am from. I was invited to give some lectures on creative enterprises, and the hows and dos of how to run your own independent design brand/company. As a preview of what was happening, 4 designers were invited to a magazine program on our local TV channel, to talk about the upcoming event and to tell a bit about our own work. Needless to say that the 4 of us were very nervous. I have never appeared on TV and I didn't know if I was going to be able to speak at all, but funny enough we all did very well haha...In the photo above, Charlie de Navarro, Ana Yaiza, Maisu and myself.

There are certain things that makes me truly happy, and are very close to my heart, Being invited to be part of this event and have the opportunity to share my knowledge with people from my home town, who are starting and want to pursue a creative career, has been a very rewarding experience. GRACIAS to everybody for making me feel very welcome and loved, Antonio, Lucia and so many others for having me there, I really enjoyed it, despite of being a very stressful and busy week, over 30 degrees, 2 planes, and a full on event!
I met Ana Yaiza, at the TV make up room, she was very friendly and chatty, I din't know her work, but hey she knows how to sew!! Love her new range of bags with the wooden handle.

Charlie de Navarro, yes look closer, they are not photographies but real drawings! that is what I call a talentent illustrator/artist eh? Charlie's work is based on fashion photos he find in editorial, etc...he is as charming as his work, young, cute and a promising artist!

Maisu, from Tenerife, (where I was born), is the designer behind Va de Vivas, a brand focused on designing and making bags for an urban life.

WOONBEURS – VTWONEN BARN

Monday 2 December 2013

Hello Monday, I hope you are all well and warm. I am glad to be back home at my studio, working on the orders, new products, boring admin, etc…December is going to be full on, and I need to recover my energy to cop with the work happening before going home for Xmas!

A bit of interior's inspiration coming from Amsterdam.
Here are some images of my trip to Amsterdam, back in September, when I went to visit the Woonbeurs fair. These pictures are from the magazine Wtwonen. They built a barn from scratch, and decorated with the most gorgeous things, including one of my woodland linen purses from the English collection, I was os happy to see it there. OMG it was so amazing, the space felt so cosy, welcoming and super stylist. It had its own barber shop, veggie patch, cafe, workshops, etc…My photos don't make justice to the real house.

I really liked the natural rustic feel of it, the greys and strong yellow in the living room, the greens everywhere, vintage paints and drawings, etc…I could have moved in, if they let me…I would have even moved to Amsterdam, I seriously say so! Oh well back to reality, I am happy in my little house anyway...
